Owess-Adair overcame tremendous obstacles to become Oregon’s first woman physician. From a childhood with little education and a failed marriage at the age of thirteen, she struggled to obtain an education, raise a child alone, make a living and receive a degree as Oregon’s first woman doctor. Her life was one of endless trials and tribulations but also of success as a leader of women’s suffrage and the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. As found in this old Western magazine.
